What a Summer

Wow, We are having a very busy summer and we are getting ready for a busy fall. We are trying to keep up and work on several large projects. We have added capacity in the pottery department and we are just getting caught up. Keep watching the website for new developments.

New Product - Market Wallet

In the comments from a video we did on plain militia clothing it was brought to my attention that haversacks might not be a common item for a typical militia soldier and that something like a Market Wallet would be more apropos. As I am always on the lookout for interesting items that we don’t carry, I thought that a Market Wallet might be a perfect new product to offer. Market wallets, sometimes just called a wallet were very common items throughout our time period. The term wallet, meaning a simple bag, was used as early as Chaucer in the 14th century and a wallet something like the market wallet we are offering is specifically described in Jackson’s Recantation of 1674. Our wallet is a simple, natural linen bag with an opening in the middle and wallet or storage space at either end. and it is patterned after existing examples. The wallet was typically thrown over the shoulder or used as a saddle bag thrown over the back of a horse. Great for civilians or militia soldiers during the 17th to the mid 19th century. Check it out on our website and make sure to watch the short video featuring this item. *About 43″ X 13″. Opening is 16″. Reinforced seams.
